Project Synopsis:
During the social and political turmoil of September 11, 2001, a young girl, JULIA (7) and her brother, BOBBY (9), intimately confront loss when they discover their dead grandfather’s body. “Jedo’s Dead” frames the traditional rituals surrounding death and loss through the eyes of young children. Alone and confused, they work their way through the stages of human grief—from the painfully human to the inescapably transcendent.
CASTING for the following roles:
• JULIA age 7-8, female, dark curly hair, still retaining her baby fat–considering all body types.
Lebanese or Middle Eastern descent. An expressive thinker, this role requires a wide range of visual expressiveness that conveys her sharp perception, adaptability, and playfulness.
• BOBBY age 8–11 year old boy, Lebanese or Middle Eastern descent, rambunctious, full of energy, loud. He has a visible handicap, priority given to talent with disabilities.
