CHARACTERS

Mustafa

40s, Male. Turkish.
Voice Description: A mid-range adult male voice. American Standard accent.
Voice Performance: A passionate and sincere voice performance.
Character Description: Mustafa is a Turkish war photographer in the UK who, along with his friend Idir, joins a group of German journalists to travel to Syria to cover the war. He is upset when he learns that political activist Zeena Karaca is going to join them, since he does not like her antics. As they spend more time together, however, he develops feelings for her. His resourcefulness saves him after a religious militia group attacks the village, they are staying in. He takes on the identity of a killed militant and even joins that their ranks to save himself, and, if possible, his friends – and especially Zeena.

Abdul

60’s, Male. Iranian. Tyrant
Voice Description: A lower-range, aged male voice. Authentic Arabic Accent Needed.
Voice Performance: A slow, measured voice performance with a loud and confident delivery.
Character Description: A leader within the militant organization, Ebu Abdul is respected and obeyed by all those around him, even by Ebu Zalim. He confidently gives orders and seems only to regard the opinions of the mysterious Mr. Robert. After he purchases her at the market, Zeena behaves defiantly towards Ebu Abdul, and he punishes her severely for her lack of compliance

Fahim

30’s, Male. Iranian.
Voice Description: A mid range male voice. Authentic Arabic Accent Needed.
Voice Performance: A taunting/threatening quality, with sporadic and unpredictable outbursts of aggression and hostility.
Character Description: A member of the militia that takes Mustafa, posing as Rahman, under his wing and introduces him to his responsibilities in the organization. Although he seems friendly towards Rahman, he quickly can quickly become suspicious and hostile, and is cold and ruthless towards those outside of his organization.

EBU Z

40’s- 50’s, Male.
Voice Description: A mid-range adult male voice with somebody and a bold presense.
Voice Performance: A strict and decisive voice performance which fluctuates between the cold, quiet, and calm of an experienced warlord and explosive outbursts of a passionate man. Intimidating.
Character Description: The ruthless leader of an Islamist militia, Ebu Zalim is determined, highly dangerous, and charismatic. Underneath his calm demeanor lurks passion, which comes to the surface when he becomes smitten with Zeynep.
