Ghomeeda: An Oscar-Winner-Qualified Film

The script for Ghomeeda has already achieved significant recognition. It has garnered awards at an Oscar-qualifying film festival and reached the finals at another prestigious Oscar-qualifying event. This acclaim highlights the film's potential and the artistic talent behind it.

Shooting in Los Angeles, California

The shooting date is set for approximately April 2025. As the filming draws closer, excitement continues to build within the team and the community alike.

The book is available for sale at Barnes & Noble.

Synopsis

Ghomeeda tells the heartfelt story of Wissam, who, alongside his son Hadi and their friend Jamil, resides in a small apartment as undocumented refugees. Living in constant fear, they lead a life of hiding. Wissam transforms their daily routine into a game of hide and seek, using it as a means to teach Hadi vital skills of self-protection while preserving his innocence.

However, their fragile sanctuary is shattered when ICE agents conduct a sudden raid. This unexpected event puts Wissam’s strategic training to the ultimate test.

A Closer Look at Hadi

Hadi is a bright and curious five-year-old Arab boy. He is naturally sociable and eager to engage with the world around him. Despite his spirited nature, Hadi is still too young to fully grasp the gravity of their situation. He doesn't understand the true intentions behind his father's protective actions. Instead, the dangerous reality of their lives feels more like an adventure to him.

Hadi's favorite game is Hide and Seek, which has become a routine thanks to his father, Wissam. What Hadi views as harmless fun is, in fact, a protective mechanism designed to shield him from the harsh truths of their lives. Wissam’s efforts to mask the danger have been successful, helping to keep Hadi's world light-hearted and carefree.

The Importance of Family

Family is central to the narrative of Ghomeeda. At the heart of the story are the bonds between Wissam, Hadi, and their friend Jamil. The film emphasizes the importance of togetherness. Their struggles and joys are amplified by their shared experiences.

Family members must rely on one another in times of crisis. Wissam's innovative game of hide and seek serves as a bridge, fostering a sense of unity. Each character brings something unique to the story, adding depth and emotional resonance.

Facing Challenges

The film doesn’t shy away from showcasing the difficulties the family faces as undocumented refugees. It addresses the harsh realities of living under constant threat. Nevertheless, it also demonstrates resilience.

Wissam's role as a father is pivotal. His determination to protect Hadi drives him to create a world where his son can feel safe, even if it is built on a foundation of fear. This duality of light and dark is what makes Ghomeeda a compelling watch.

It brings to light the plight of many undocumented families while illustrating the strength found in community and family ties. The film’s portrayal of innocent joy amidst perilous circumstances resonates deeply, making it a must-watch. With its pending release, anticipation builds.
